Alaya Ruotsala has signed with the GCC Women's Volleyball Team for the 2023-2024 Season. Alaya is an Ironwood High School graduate. Alaya played both volleyball and basketball at Ironwood High School. Alaya's accomplishments are one for the books.

During Alaya's Freshman and Sophomore years of basketball, she received honorable mention. This leads up to her junior year when she received honorable mention and 1st Team. She also received 1st team her senior year. In volleyball, Alaya was placed on the elite team, Porcupine Mountain 1st Team, and was named Defensive Player of The Year. Alaya continued her success into her senior year where she was again Elite Team, Defensive Player of The Year, and All Conference MVP. Alaya's success doesn't start and end with sports, she was also high honor roll all four years and a member of the National Honor Society.
