Kate Borseth signs with GCC for both Volleyball and Basketball for the 2023-24 season.

Gogebic Community College would like to welcome Kate Borseth to BOTH the Volleyball & Basketball Team! As a five-year starter at Ewen-Trout Creek, Kate has had an outstanding career(s). Her dedication and hard work to basketball have helped lead her team to three CMC titles, three PMC titles, and three district championships. This past season, Kate averaged an impressive 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 76% from the free-throw line and 54% from 2. Kate's scoring and defensive skills have made her an essential player for her team, as she consistently draws the other team's best defenders. Her highlights this season include a 41-point game against Crystal Falls, 34 points against L'Anse, and 25 points against Lake Linden. Over her career at E-TC, Kate scored an impressive 1,596 points. It's no surprise that she's been recognized with several awards, including being nominated to the All-UP Dream Team, AP First Team All-State, and BCAM's Best First Team All-State this year. Kate's accomplishments don't stop there. Kate was Copper Country Division 1st team Porcupine Mountain Division for Volleyball her Junior Year, All Conference First Team her Senior Year, and a four-year varsity volleyball starter.

"I am excited to have Kate be apart of our Women's Volleyball Team as well as basketball. Kate's a competitor, she works hard, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Kate's level of competition will bring out the best in her teammates and make them work hard to get better. Kate comes from a family that loves those sports and has supported her throughout her career. This will bring an atmosphere to our crowd, and we are lucky to have that to look forward to." – Head Volleyball Coach McKenzie Kanipes

"Kate had a great high school career and we're excited to get to work with her moving forward. She has a lot of the things you want in a player, but most importantly she just loves competing. It'll be fun to watch her growth as she progresses as a two-sport athlete at GCC!" – Head Coach Cole Schreiner
