McKenzie is a graduate of Clayton High School in northwestern Wisconsin. She lettered four years in varsity volleyball and basketball under Coaches Diane Schradle & Kevin Fall respectively, earning All-conference and All State honors for her endeavors. McKenzie also earned honors in track and field, for the school’s cooperative program with Turtle Lake.

Following high school, she attended the UW-Superior and played collegiate volleyball. Academically, McKenzie earned a Bachelor of Science degree, and recently, a Master of Social Work from Saint Mary’s-University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Her new goal is to focus on showcasing local athletic talent, as well as bringing in student-athletes from other cities, to work to make GCC’s women’s volleyball program grow competitively.

McKenzie’s philosophy centers on providing a safe place for students-athletes to thrive academically, as well as athletically.  She will focus on nurturing their involvement in Gogebic’s community.

McKenzie looks to have student-athletes who will showcase a strong work ethic and exhibit good character- both as a teammate , and students of GCC.  Most importantly, she hopes to find individuals who are truly passionate about the game of volleyball.

“Being a part of the GCC community has been wonderful. My mom helped facilitate the start of the first women’s volleyball program back in 1993. To be able to come in and work at the school and now to coach, is a truly humbling and exciting.”
