The Gogebic Samsons recently signed Hernan Cortes 6’3” guard from Barranquilla, Colombia for 2024-25. Hernan is a two-time member of the Colombian National Team and a graduate of Gateway Legacy Christian Academy in Florissant, Missouri.

Coach Dennis Mackey: “I’m pleased to announce the signing of Hernan Cortes to our Samson basketball program. Hernan will add an athletic skillset to next year’s team. Defensively, he’s a solid perimeter defender who’s shown a willingness to take charges from opponents.  Offensively, Hernan has excellent court awareness, is a very good passer, and can score at all three levels – on the perimeter, in the mid-range, & at the rim.”
